The Service

The Simple Pension Review Service has been developed to provide clients who have final salary pension scheme benefits with a thorough and fully independent review of their pension.

It is important to stress that this is not a pension transfer service. Our service is very different from that provided by the majority of financial advisers. At Simple, we charge a one-off, upfront fee for reviewing a clients’ pension benefits and providing a comprehensive report with our recommendation as to whether they should remain in the scheme or transfer to a new pension.

Many other firms have a fee structure that incentivises transfers away from the final salary scheme where the advisers only get paid if the client transfers their pension. At Simple, we feel that this type of service represents a potential conflict of interest, which our offering aims to address.

Our review is designed to offer not only analysis of the client’s existing pension scheme benefits, but also of their unique retirement aims and objectives.

The Review Report

The report we provide will:

  • Help clients understand their current pension benefits
  • Help clients make an assessment of the value of these benefits – based on their specific circumstances and their family’s needs
  • Help clients make a meaningful comparison between this and the value of an alternative private pension, should they transfer out of the final salary pension scheme

The Team

The Simple Pension Review Service is part of Simple Financial Advice Limited, which has been providing authorised FCA pension and investment advice since January 2007.

The Pension Review Service is run by John Wilkinson and Mark Thewlis.

John has managed and owned directly authorised FCA firms for over 20 years. John was Managing Director of a national firm of IFAs before establishing Simple Financial Advice Limited in 2007.

Mark is an authorised Financial Adviser and is both a qualified Chartered Financial Planner and Certified Financial Planner. He has specialised in pensions for 25 years and is one of the UK’s leading trainers on pensions. Mark is one of a handful of individuals who are accredited by the Chartered Insurance Institute to train financial advisers on topics such as pensions and final salary pension schemes.

Nick Green is an authorised Financial Adviser who has worked for Simple for 4 years, having been in the financial services industry for 25 years. Nick has successfully developed the telephone-based advice service and deals with all day to day client advice.

Stacey Woodman heads up the administration support team and has also worked for Simple for 4 years, having been in the financial services industry for 15 years.
